Two words: submissions deadline. If you’re considering joining our outstanding slate of speakers at Autodesk University 2008, you’ll have to act by April 27, 2008.
Please submit your presentation proposal(s) online, as soon as possible, at the Call for Papers website.
Whenever we stop to analyze why Autodesk University has become so hugely successful, one thing is clear: the excellent presentations from experts are a big, big factor.
The time for us to assemble the AU 2008 faculty, who are without a doubt the most critical component of the overall AU experience, is nearly over. So if you:
… Then we want to hear from you—now!
A speaker honorarium is also provided.
Great short video showing the automated BOMA calculations in AutoCAD Architecture 2008 from Daryl Gregoire’s Learn ADT blog.

This year Autodesk is broadcasting a podcast series , called the AU BEAT. The interview-style recordings with instructors, presenters and key AU stakeholders are designed to provide a glimpse into the programs and activities at AU this year. There are already podcasts to help you gear up for AU even before you leave for the event. Check it out at AU BEAT.
Check out the newest tech preview posted on Autodesk Labs for content search. Full story on Shaan’s ‘Between the Lines’ blog—click here.

This is great. It’s nice to see a small example of technology becoming transparent.

This survey should only take at most 5 minutes of your time, and as always,
please be as honest as possible with your feedback. We appreciate your
participation, and the results will help us improve the feature in future
releases.
Thank you for your time and continued support of AutoCAD Architecture.
Sincerely,
The AutoCAD Architecture Team
A new first for the ‘Between the Walls’ blog—a guest writer. Anna Oscarson, a member of our Quality Assurance team, put together the following on the new Space Calculation functionality added in AutoCAD Architecture 2008. Thanks Anna!

In AutoCAD Architecture 2008 you can calculate the net, usable and gross area according to an area calculation standard defined for a drawing.
AutoCAD Architecture provides 4 predefined area calculation standards based on the rules of the BOMA, DIN, and SIS standards. In addition, a generic Basic standard is supplied.
The area calculation standards contain country or organization specific rules by which the spaces must be set up. The BOMA and DIN calculation standards are based on classifications, where the spaces needs to be classified in order to calculate each boundary's offsets. SIS partly uses classifications but it also uses zone attachment to calculate the usable areas. The Basic standard is more generic and calculates the offset boundaries depending on whether it has a space adjacency or not.
To see a quick demonstration how to calculate areas using area calculation standards please click the links below.
For more information please see the chapters in the AutoCAD Architecture 2008 User's Guide section for - Documentation - Spaces - Appendix 2: Predefined Area Calculation Standards."

Steve Bennett of L.A. CAD will be hosting an online webcast on the Detailing functionality within AutoCAD Architecture on Wednesday, June 20 at 10am (presumably PST). His 1 hour webcast will cover the following topics:
